Sigh. Yet another post I took a lot of trouble with deleted from the Warrior Forum with no explanation.… I guess they want people depending on those magic bullets marketing systems and not learning how to truly succeed online for themselves. Here is that post:
Your Secret Formula of Success
See someone’s success » Use the same system » Push the Button » Do Everything They Did » Still Don’t Get Paid
The problem is, it’s not “The” formula of success; it’s “Your” formula of success.
I don’t believe marketing success is like a slot machine, where you put in your coin and pull the lever and wait for the game to cash out. It’s more like busking — playing music for coins: The only way into the traffic’s pockets is to first sing your own truths. Satisfy your own musical need. Take a leap of faith.
The truth of your humanity will resonate with the shared humanity of others, and that is what will get them to sell themselves on your music. If you lie to yourself — others will hear the lie, and will not be sold.
If you try to write music based on trends or projections — you’ll create few human connections. A robot could play that music better than you. The cold irony is that to know your audience, you must first know yourself — and take a leap of faith. If you learn to see and tell the truth, others will recognize your truth in themselves; they will recognize your value in their need.
No matter what conformity or conventions you take comfort in — you are a unique individual moving in time. There is no push button success. No static answer. The moment you find a fishing spot that delivers, all the boats converge and scare off the fish.
You have to stay ahead of the curve. I’m sorry, that takes intelligence and risk and audacity, and the willingness to be ridiculed.
The good news is, the needed originality stems, not from this or that fishing spot — but from recognizing the currents of traffic and medium and consumer need. Your secret formula of success is not in any system, it’s in you. Go from concepts to movements. Go from where the fish are supposed to be to where they are going to be.
When you know your skills, interests and values — and you gain market experience — you can create your formula for success.
To assist in this goal, consider these 4 steps:
1. Intrinsic Interest
for longterm sustainability
What do you like to do? What are you good at? What can you learn? What are your values? To succeed you have to do something a long time, maybe ten years. Better like your work, because you can’t lie to your heart, and you need it for movement.
Apple’s success isn’t in the “iPad.” It is in the “i.” No company on earth can make another iPad. That moment in time has passed. You don’t need to buy a tablet to succeed. A tablet might help you, but it won’t carry you.
· Why study English? Why not Latin? They are similar.
· Is it because of the personal payoff of using a global economic language? This personal payoff will also inform your niche selection. It is why you can’t just duplicate someone else’s success. Otherwise, I would advise you to just go out and make iPads.
IE, know yourself. Not your will, but your actual abilities and limits and things that make you jump out of bed excited to get started.
You will not find this answer in any WSO.
Like it or not, you’ve got to distinguish your value niche where you have a survivable chance against the competition. You’ve got to deliver the goods. Anything less, and you are banking on burning out, or wearing out your market welcome. You don’t need qualifications — you need to be able to create results.
Skill is versatility. This is more than mimicking someone else’s system; but making it your own. Capturing your own opportunities, capitalizing on your unique capacities. Understand your aptitudes. Try new things, you have hidden talents. But don’t lie to yourself about being able to do work that you just have no interest in.
Sorry, you will not find this factor in any WSO. You’ll find the numbered footsteps, but not the dance.
3. Market Demand & Referrals
for return on investment, scaling & leverage, and compounding effect
You’ve got to adapt to the markets, the traffic, the medium. You can’t afford to ignore Google’s mission or adhere to last year’s success as if it is an entitlement — it is not.
Not only should you get to know your market intimately, but you rely on satisfied customer referrals.
Remember, you’ve got to integrate this with your skills and motives to ensure sustainable value for your customers and yourself.
You will not find this factor in any WSO.
4. (Online) Functional Workflow
for efficiency, security & cost management
Blogging 4 P’s:
· Platform — WordPress, Blogger, Drupal, Joomla, etc. Landing pages, dynamic vs static sites, On-Site SEO, Design, UX, and just — user impressions.
· Product — digital vs tangible, creation, modification, affiliation, duplication, distinction, function, etc.
· Promotion — Off-site SEO, SMO, Paid, Organic, online & offline — and how you represent it
· Performance — niche analysis, closed loop/clickstream, launch points and periods, customer responses, etc.
= Value Integration
Value for the market, value for you, value for life
You won’t find this in any WSO.
Your secret formula of success:
Interest » Skill » Market » Workflow
THEN buy the secret formula that teaches you how to use these “secrets” you already possess.
Use proven tactics — but apply them to your own factors. This is how you stick to something long enough to succeed. It’s not the system you use. It’s the integration of self and market, like cogs fitting and moving together.
